Study 1
A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study evaluated the effects of a bacoside- containing formulation (Memory Plus™) on children indicating supportive effects. Thirty-six participants received either the bacoside formulation (50 mg twice daily) or placebo for 12 weeks, followed by a 4-week placebo phase. Cognitive assessments conducted at baseline and at regular intervals included measures of attention, memory span, word recall, logical memory, and learning performance. The study design allowed for evaluation of changes in learning and memory-related parameters over time.
Results
Children receiving the bacoside-containing formulation demonstrated improvements across multiple learning and memory-related assessments over the study period compared to placebo, indicating supportive effects.
Study 2
In a separate double-blind, placebo-controlled study, an Ayurvedic herbal formulation containing Bacopa monnieri and other botanicals was evaluated in 50 school-aged children over six weeks. The formulation provided 0.2 g of Bacopa monnieri powder per day. Outcomes focused on attention, concentration, and memory measures. The results indicated a statistically significant improvement in reaction time, a marker of attentional performance, in the supplemented group compared to placebo, while no significant changes were observed in concentration or memory parameters.
Results
The Ayurvedic formulation was associated with a significant improvement in reaction time, a marker of attention, compared to placebo, while no statistically significant changes were observed in concentration or memory measures.
These studies suggest that Bacopa-containing formulations may support aspects of attention and learning performance in children. Findings are based on controlled clinical evaluations and do not imply diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of any disease.
